Time to think globally – the wn-2 Earth watch – 18th Edition
Much like the recent spherical Eris watch, here’s another way to tell the time that is a little “out of this world”. Japanese not-for-profit organization Think The Earth has released the wn-2 watch, featuring a tiny replica of the Earth that rotates in the same direction and at the same speed as the real thing. By offering a view similar to that seen from orbit, the creators hope the wn-2 (which stands for “watch Northern Hemisphere”) will encourage the wearer to put things in perspective and consider the world around them.

Cheese Grater Light makes cheese graters almost stylish – 5th Edition
Alright, so I’m aware it’s a touch on the strange side to put a light inside of a bright orange cheese grater. However, being a person who has a tendency to wander the house at night, it’s always nice to have a dim light going in the kitchen. Then if you’re going to keep a light in the kitchen, you might as well make it a light that looks like it belongs in the kitchen.
It does make sense, but I realize that it does take a little extra work to justify it. What doesn’t really help matters any is the ...

There are all types of spy gadgets out there, the trick is finding the one that blends in the most with your style. After all, if you have top of the line electronics everywhere, a cheap alarm clock is going to stand out. Some might find it a touch paranoid that you have video surveillance going ...
To know where we are or where we are headed, it helps to know where we were. And a DVD of a new company called Shields images, the DVD does very well, entertaining, with beautiful results. Popular Science is titled, still active long after the magazine with the same name. In 1935-1949, long before PBS NOVA, Discovery Channel, Canada's "How It's Made" or "How Stuff Works," the series ever conceived, the producer Jerry Fairbanks and Paramount Pictures, a series of short films of ten minutes for cinema, all the more important of all was the main entertainment. All shot in color, went looking for some movies together shortly before the main movie, a night of entertainment with a little education thrown for good measure in disguise. The popular science was a festival for new inventions, new ideas, new solutions to old problems, and the promise of a new technology in an entertaining way of presenting fantastic nonclinical "Newsreel" format. And thus, modern projection of old films retains its entertainment value, for reasons again, although most of the inventions contained in them were replaced by technological advances since then. Some have survived to modern times, are now taken for granted, but they were new, innovative ideas, he turned to the series of popular science. Some are wise, so they wonder why no further developed. Some not so smart, and not just work, borders on ridiculous, even for its time, and of course included, then and now, for contributing humorous. What are all still fascinating to see, because they reflect a time when anything was possible if so many people working in the lab and R & D in their basements, at least try to make the world a make better place and hope to create a better future, and films have underlying optimism about the possibilities and benefits of science and technology, it helps to experience yet charming, even in these difficult times we live in modern could use some of that optimism and independent innovation at this time, and perhaps a unique vision of this DVD could help in this regard. Shields Pictures has released excerpts from dozens of them into four general categories, "Things To Come – Inventions that Changed the World," "Planes, Trains & Automobiles," "The Wacky Gizmos & Gadgets" and "The home of the future ", with additional entries for each clip, as well as bonus clips and images of the original producer of the series. The purists, the original movies in their full form ten minutes to display, will be disappointed, and I hope to be released in its complete form, sometime in the future, along with some other old series of short films, Shields Photos won. But they are probably more watchable worked together on this, the way the killing of the weakest parts of the shorts, leaving only the historically most interesting to modern eyes. (And I wish someone great 1976 film release features long, "Gizmo", which are on DVD, which was also a celebration of old newsreels inventions of the past.) Some favorite Popular Science Clips by me, a look at the Fleischer brothers innovative animation effects POPEYE 3-D on his early films, three wheeled vehicles, they are looking for parking in tight spaces, and probably the most bizarre, a gap very silly and funny hats, presumably hair growth. (See works extra fast with a laugh.) Women's likely to see the fun, the oddities that different "homes and kitchens of the future" that includes a measure of how attitudes have changed towards women, including since. Although more complicated Rube Goldberg kitchen do not click on individual homes, changes in many of them found their way into the lively restaurants, are still used today. Photos shields has a good job of transferring those old movies on video, made presumably with access to the original negatives and / or pristine 35mm prints, and almost all the clips are in excellent condition. Sound tracks have been digitally cleaned up, too. Most of them have not seen since he was first, but as an occasional random "filler" material in several cable movie channels. All in all, this first "Popular Science" DVD is worth watching and buying all those little unusual and unique in some of the best historical films offered. Hopefully we'll learn more about these and other short series of films (and "Gizmo"?) In pictures protectors in the future. Dan Fiebiger, Portland, Oregon.
